There Is No Joy In NITA

Mighty Carter has struck out!

Apparently, I live a most joyless life. Tambo tagged me with Holly's meme. After much searching, I did find a post using the word satisfaction. Unfortunately, it's not my words. It's the post before this one about Which Astrological Planet Are You?, which says that I "have difficulty finding satisfaction in life". Hmmmm. That's no so good.

I know I have posted about the good things that happen in my life. I know I have. I think. Maybe I just didn't use the right words. So what's blowing my skirt up these days?

Dogs and cats. There's just nothing as comforting as a cat and/or a dog or two in your lap. Some of you are going EWWWWWWW!, I know, but some of us really like snuggling with warm, furry things (other than our wives or SO's, of course. Not to say my wife is furry, at all, but...OK, shutting up before I get my foot in my mouth all the way up to my knee.). If they want to share my pillow at night, so much the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Cool weather. High of 80 today with reasonably low humidity. Glorious! October days make glad to be alive. My very favorite month.

Gardening. My cool-weather crops are in and growing like weeds. We'll be picking lettuce over the weekend, turnips in about another 3 weeks, Sugar Snap peas by the end of November, and lots more. Weeds grow a lot slower, bugs are mostly gone. Highly satisfying and gratifying.

Wife. Goes without saying, though I know I should say it more often than I do. I just wish we had more time to spend together. Our work schedules don't coincide, so we wave as we pass on the road. Friday nights we get to eat supper together, and we have Saturday afternoons and all day Sundays, too, so we get by.

Blog friends who cheer me up when I need it and are a constant source of inspiration and encouragement. And memes.

DSL is coming!
DSL is coming!
DSL is coming!
And I won't dial up no more!
Supposed to be turned on Tuesday. Got the modem sitting on ready.

And finally, words! Lots of good reading lately. Lots of good writing, too. I'm working out some forensics on Washed in the Blood. Hope to get my final draft of Sea Change polished up this weekend. The Book That Must Not Be Named is providing hilarity.

And then most finally of all (I promise, for real this time)...I have e-mail! It might take another day or two for the DNS to finish propagating, but it's working from here, anyway. The Web site will take a few days to get everything re-installed, but it won't take too terribly long. Still not sure on the Vision indexes, but I'm not going to think about that until, ummmm, Sunday. Yeah, that's it! I'll think about it Sunday. That's the ticket!

That's only a partial list, of course. There are always great things happening in our lives, we just don't always see them.
Now, who shall I pick on this time? How about...

Melly (got to get you into shape)
Heather (this will be easy for you, you only have to go back a couple of days)
Mik (us Venuses have to stick together :) )
Ronn (You've got another recent post to work with)
Jean (like you needed more work, huh?)

And here are the rules:

THE SEARCH FOR JOY

Search your blog for the word “joy” used in the context of “happiness.” If you cannot find the word in your weblog, you may use any of the select list of synonyms below.

joy — amusement, bliss, cheer, comfort, delectation, delight, ecstasy, elation, exaltation, exultation, exulting, felicity, gaiety, gladness, glee, good humor, gratification, happiness, hilarity, humor, jubilance, liveliness, merriment, mirth, pleasure, rapture, regalement, rejoicing, revelry, satisfaction, wonder

If your weblog does not include a built-in search engine, then you can use Google to search it only for the word you wish to find.

If you’ve found the word and it was not used facetiously or sarcastically, good for you. All you need to do is link to your earlier entry, and write a few words about that joyous moment. If, however, you have no joy (whole words only) in your weblog, you must dig deep in your soul and find something wonderful in your life right now. One little thing that fills you with warmth, that bubbles you over with quiet happiness, or tickles you with its good-hearted hilarity, or makes you glad you just took a breath, and are getting ready to take another. It doesn’t have to be anything big. A smile someone gave you; your cat on your shoulder; the way the light angles through your window and casts rainbows on your floor. All it has to be is something genuine, something real, something that matters to you.

Because we all need joy in our lives, and need to take the time — from time to time — to recognize it. And sometimes, we need to pass it on.

Even if we’re a big pain in the ass when we do.

When you’ve dealt with your own joy, pass the quest on to five other bloggers.

I knew this one would be coming, I just wasn't sure from where. This time I've prepared. You can't catch me off guard.

I love the things that make you happy. I'm actually with you on most of them.

I'll get to my joy first thing tomorrow morning after the push-ups and the 5k run (or is that optional? ;)

(I was going to tag you on the previous one but saw that you were tagged already, and now you got ahead of me and tagged me first - not fair ;)
